Stanford Lively Arts: Arts and Ideas Lab

Acclaimed poet Sekou Sundiata has an ongoing examination of what it means to be both a citizen and an individual in a deeply complex, post 9/11 society. He has created a participatory and exploratory space for students, faculty, and community members to consider the notion of public rituals and the ways in which they can begin to make a" We out of Me, Mine, and I.” Gamo Da Paz, an expert in Candomblé traditions, was asked to open Stanford’s Arts and Ideas Lab with a traditional Candomblé Ritual and song.
